Become a member

To become a member of the Yarra Pistol Club you must complete several steps: 

1. Arrange an interview with the Secretary or Nominated Officer to discuss joining, fees, steps to becoming a member etc, and to have a look around the premises. Have a Nominated Officer sign the Fingerprint authority form.

2. Fill out the following forms:

V.A.P.A membership application (YPC to make copy for club file when returned)

Yarra Pistol Club Application Form including Prohibited persons form.

3. Fingerprints.
You are required to contact Victoria Police to arrange to have your fingerprints taken. You have to make an appointment - call 1300 881 596 between 8.00a.m. and 4.00 p.m.

There is a fee payable to do this & you will receive a National Police Certificate Information Card. Please attach this to your membership paperwork.

4. Supply 2 passport-style photographs (30mm x 35mm), which are to be frontal head and shoulders.

5. Supply Copy of Medicare Card with Application.

6. Please supply 2 character references, letterhead preferred. These references from people who have known you for at least 2 years and are over 18 years of age, such as employers, family doctor, bank managers etc.

7. All of the above must be returned to the Secretary before you can attend a Committee meeting. The paperwork will be checked and if in order you will be invited to the next Committee meeting. The meetings are held on the first Friday of the month at the Club premises at 7.00.p.m. (you should arrive around 6.45p.m.).

The Committee interviews prospective members. Yarra is a private Club and therefore the approval of membership is at the sole discretion of the Committee.

Once approved for membership at Yarra Pistol Club.
• All new members must attend & pass an obligatory safety course where safe pistol handling and range operation procedures will be explained. The course is held at the Club generally on a Sunday from 9.00cam to around 2.30 pm.
• You will be given a key & swipe card to access the premises & a New Members kit.
